The Masía

A place to disconnect

Our rural accommodation is an old traditional masía, "Mas de Pellejo", located in the Val Rovira, between Calaceite and Arens de Lledó (Matarraña region, Teruel), surrounded by olive trees, almond trees and vineyards, in the heart of the Mediterranean forest, within Bonelli's Eagle (Aquila faciata) protected area.

The Masía had been uninhabited for about sixty years, without water, without electricity and on the verge of sinking. We have restored it preserving the traditional architecture of the area, recovering most of the furniture and farming tools that we find in it, giving them a new life.

We have carried out the rehabilitation following criteria of sustainability and self-sufficiency, we have placed solar panels to obtain electricity, we obtain water from our own well, and the greywater is purified in a biological septic tank. Organic wastes are turned into compost, glass is reused, and plastics and paper (whose consumption we try to avoid) is recycled.

All this makes the Masía autonomous, and allows us to reduce our pollution footprint to a minimum.

Mas de Pellejo is not a conventional rural house, we understand this space and its natural environment as a special and different place to disconnect for a while from routine and stress, here you will not find television, we do not guarantee mobile coverage and the availability of Wifi signal is limited, the nearest neighbour is silent.

For us, the main objective of this project is to share Mas de Pellejo (we live in the old barn, now restored) with people who want to break with everyday life, who love nature and respect it, who like silence, feel the air in the body, smell nature, see that every day is different and enjoy it... in short, live a unique experience.
